Le Marché is a small bistro right next to our hotel. We went there for our first meal in Paris and it was an endeavor trying to decipher a French menu. It’s small and cozy, and the service was good. We tried some new meals such as le canard (duck) and the composition vegetarienne.
Le Marche Ouvert is a typical French open market. Here there are many stands selling fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, vegetables, sea food, flowers, and more. We shopped with Emilie our guide for ingredients to cook lunch at her house. We bought sausage, tomatoes, camembert, chevre, french green beans, a cut of beef and of course baguettes. We also saw cow tongue, intestines, and sea urchins.
We ate here the first night in Paris. We met with a few friends from MIT to try traditional French food, such as a croque monsieur, which is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Mika ate an omelette, and others ate salads and crepes.

This chain restaurant, with its soft lighting and welcoming décor, is a nice stop for high-quality Italian cuisine during your shopping trips on the most famous street in Paris, the Champs-Elysées. Among the dinner dishes we tried were the « cocktail » pasta dish, which included pasta with three different types of sauces, the Caesar salad, the vegetarian pizza, and the delicious seafood pasta filled with crawfish, shrimp, and scallops. And the desserts menu can’t be topped – with tiramisu, sorbet, chocolate mousse, among many others.

We dined at the Marivaux after watching “The Merry Widow” at the Opera Comique. We only ate appetizers here. They specialize in fondue, but we tried soupe a l’oignon and many salads. It was here that we met the actor who played Figg.
After seeing Oh les beaux jours, we stopped for Italian food at Mezza Luna. Many of us ordered delicious pizzas, seafood pasta, and mozzarella and tomato salad.

Miss Manon was the patisserie near our hotel. Patisseries can be found on every block in Paris, and they sell pastries, breads, and sandwiches. We stopped here many times to pick up chocolate croissants or other delicious desserts.
