Glossary: Q

Quality Assurance (QA)
Focuses on defect prevention in order to produce a system that meets design specifications and usability standards. The Quality Assurance Group is responsible for working with all levels of MIT employees to prevent system defects by defining, monitoring, and improving development processes.
Quality Assurance (QA) Editor
SAP users who can edit data files within the QA Share directory. See Quality Assurance Share.

Quality Assurance (QA) Function
The Quality Assurance analysts, methods, policies, and procedures that ascertain compliance with the approved development standards. The outcome is to assure a reasonable level of performance and that the goals of the department are met.
Quality Assurance (QA) Share
File storage location on the network for test documents. Also known as QA Share.
Quality Control
Comparison of the product's quality to standards and specifications. The focus of quality control is to detect bugs and defects within the system and to identify what action to take when they are encountered.
