Built for the International Exhibition of Paris in 1889 to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution, this massive steel structure has become arguably the very symbol of France. One night early in our trip, we got off at the Trocadéro Metro stop to look at the famous Tour Eiffel. Everyone has seen pictures of the Tour Eiffel in daylight, but the view at night, with all of its 300 meters lit up, is breathtaking. There is a light show every hour on the hour, and we were lucky to catch it. We snapped a lot of pictures and very much enjoyed the view that night.
