Situated on la Montagne Sainte Geneviève, the church of Sainte Etienne-du-Mont is almost overshadowed by the Panthéon, which stands tall beside it. Despite its location, the quaint church’s architecture is breathtaking in that its interior boasts beautiful staircases as part of the only remaining balcony in Paris from which the priest preaches (the jubé). One of 14 churches and temples close to the Panthéon, it helps give la Montagne Sainte Geneviève its title as the “zenith of intellect and spirituality of Paris.”
