This « hôtel particulier » is not a hotel in the American sense of the word ; rather, it was a large residence for the Sully family. It was constructed in 1611 and acquired in 1634 by the first Sully to live there. We toured the gardens and saw the two sets of four scenes carved into the stone walls, representing the four seasons (winter, spring, summer, fall) and the four elements (water, fire, earth, wind).
