H. The Function of the Midget and Parasol Channels in Vision
In
addition to testing for color, brightness, depth, motion and flicker,
animals were also tested for form and texture perception and were also
examined under dark adapted conditions. Deficits for form and texture
were pronounced after parvo but not after magno lesions. Brightness discrimination
under dark adapted conditions was unaffected by either lesion. Based on
these findings, the visual functions of the midget and parasol systems
are listed in Figure 38.
