The
two series “Resonance of the Forest Flora” and “Harmony
of the Desert Earth” were created in Adobe PhotoShop, version
7.0 using the Mosaic Filter.
Adobe
Photoshop offers many types of filters that can be applied to an
image in order to alter it in particular ways: blurring, sharpening,
pixelating, adding texture, distorting.
The
Mosaic Filter (in the Pixelate submenu under Filter) clumps pixels
from the image into square blocks of color in a grid. The number
of pixels clumped (and thus the size of each block) can be varied
from 1-200. The color of a given block is derived from the hue,
tone, and saturation of the pixels clumped.
