Project Abstract:

The HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is made of a series of components with VCM as a key and necessary component. Since the contaminated particles in the HDD may cause vital injures to the stored data, the particles on these components must be controlled under a limitation. And erasure line inspection is one method to judge such particle contamination. The fewer erasure lines, the cleaner the component is. Then such products are more competitive with other same products, and more attractive to the customers. So, our project is to Reduce/Eliminate Erasure lines in VCM (Voice Coil Motor) Assembly, such that increase the whole performance of the HDD. Here pro-active approach is utilized by the team to control the contamination directly from the source. And the integrity of the erasure line inspection is also explored by the team to check the suitability of the method.
