Changes made in Roles Database application version 1.01b
(compared to 1.01a)
Version 1.01b was built with a newer version of PowerBuilder for Y2K
compliance. (We believe that version 1.01a was probably Y2K compliant,
but it was built using an older version of PowerBuilder that is
no longer supported by the vendor.)
The logon screen lets you pick from a list of databases, e.g.,
Roles (production database) or TRoles (test database). Previously,
it was necessary to edit the roleapp.ini file to use a different
database.
The splash screen, seen at logon time, points
to a web site containing detailed documentation. (This was a change
in the new version of roleapp.txt distributed with version 1.01b.)
The list screens for Authorizations, Functions, and People display
a line count at the bottom.
An new feature under the File menu, "Export," lets you export data from the Authorization List
to a file on your hard disk. You can choose Excel, tab-delimited, or
other formats for the exported data. See "Export" under the "File" menu.
However, the export includes more information than appears on the Authorization list screen. Make sure to choose to download header information so you will be able to identify the information you want.
A new feature under the Perform menu, "Change Dates," lets you set effective dates and expiration
dates for all of a user's authorizations within a given category. (You still need the
appropriate meta-authorizations to update all of the affected
authorizations.)
In the authorization detail screen, the modified_date field now
includes the hour and minute that the authorization was last modified.
