After a layoff of almost a month, MIT came
out very sluggish. Salem State dominated the glass with several
offensive rebounds and easy putbacks to build a slim lead.
The Engineers were able to stay in the game briefly with the
hustle of junior forward Boris Paskalev
and baskets by sophomore Kyle Doherty
and freshman Adam Gibbons. However,
Salem State switched to a zone defense late in the first half
as the Engineers began to struggle shooting from the outside.
Salem State took a 41-29 lead going into halftime.
The second half fared no better for the Engineers.
Salem State built on their lead with second chance points
and numerous foul shot opportunities. Paskalev
tried to give the Engineers life with his offensive rebounds,
but MIT could not get back into the game as their cold shooting
continued. Paskalev and Gibbons
led the team in scoring, each with 11 points.
