the apache-ssl locker (rev11)
The apache-ssl locker contains software
recommended by MIT Information Systems for providing
secure web servers.
This software is intended for use by experienced systems
administrators at MIT.
MIT's apache-ssl software is based on the Apache
webserver, and we have included support for ssl. The current
release also contains support for Java servlet
development (on the Sun platform only, for the time being).
Beginning with the revision 8 distribution of apache-ssl,
we started offering two options for adding Java Servlet functionality to the basic
apache-ssl webserver. Unless you specifically need to use Tomcat, we
recommend you take the first option.
- Option 1: Using the old
Apache Jserv technology, based on the Jserv API 2.0 and uses mod_jserv
application environment, based
on the more recent Java Servlet API (2.1, 2.2 ..) and the new engine mod_jk.
- Option 2: Using Tomcat3.3.1, a new and complex Java servlet web
- Option 3: Using Tomcat4.1.27, a new and complex Java servlet web
application environment, based
on the more recent Java Servlet API (2.1, 2.2 ..) and the new engine mod_jk.
Obsolete versions:
All previous versions of apache-ssl are obsolete. Some remain
available for reference purposes.
